ARCHITECTURE

The term Architecture is very expressive for every human being. As kids, we all new Architecture meant making buildings and designing emmmaculate structures. But as we grow older, we realise that Architecture is not just about it. It is way beyond it and much more. It is about feeling, about expression. It is about emotion and about passion. It vocalises the aura of a structure. Architecture provides, in the words of Marcus Vitruvius, the great Roman Architect and historian, "Firmness, commodity and delight".

Architecture is everywhere. Each and every building: a home, a school, an office, a hospital and even a supermarket are designed for its particular purpose. It is of vital importance that these buildings, and in turn the environment they form in the neighbourhood that they are a part of, are designed to be the best possible buildings for their specific context, use and the people who use them.

Architecture comprises of art and science. A wider definition would include the design of the total built environment, from the macrolevel of town planning, urban design, and landscape architecture to the microlevel of creating furniture. Architectural design usually must address both feasibility and cost for the builder; function and aesthetics for the user. Every artist welcomes Architecture at

one point. Perhaps it’s not as pure of an art form as sculpture, but in addition to functioning as an occupiable space, it still needs to inspire and make an emotional impact.

Architecture can indeed serve us as a time capsule of human history. It reveals to us human thoughts, ideals, ideas, even our fears and worries. All human emotions and thoughts can be reflected in one powerful piece of art that lies ahead of us while we remain still, watching it in awe. It reflects our culture, who we are and where we belong within the society. It depicts the vast creation of great minds. God being the main creator of the creators.

Indeed the world itself is a marvellous creation. Every speck of God's creation is a beauty. We are bound to protect and preserve it. And we had been succesful for some centuries. But with rise of Global warmimg, and the deteriorating climatic factors, an Architect must pledge to protect it. This is a challenge we all must accept and conquer. One must believe that every person must do their part on sustaining the environment.

Ending on a note that, Architecture is everywhere; in humans, in nature and in every surrounding. And that, we must not let our profession or choices ruin the Earth. Let's make the world a better place by creating great structures that go around with the nature.
